Zurich Community Meetup 2023

Welcome to the next in-person Infinite Flight Community Meet-Up at Zurich Airport! On Saturday, April 22nd, 2023, we will gather together at Observation Deck B for the entire day, where we’ll have the opportunity to admire the beauty of planes taking off and landing. Whether you’re an aspiring pilot, Infinite Flight enthusiast, seasoned spotter or completely new to the hobby, we guarantee that you’ll have an incredible time meeting like-minded individuals and sharing your passion for aviation. If you’re interested in joining us for this exciting event, please read on for more information on how to get involved!

Date & Time

We will be at Zurich Airport between 12pm to 6pm CEST. The meet-up time frame is listed below!

Location

Meeting Point

Our meeting point at the beginning of the day will be next to the information desk located on level two of the airport. We will arrive here approximately 30 minutes before the meet-up begins where we’ll wait for you all to arrive.

Note that we will only wait here for 30 minutes before making our way to check-in 2 where we’ll obtain our passes to enter the observation deck. Oh, by the way, anyone who meets us at the meeting point will get free entry on us… Just saying.

If you didn’t quite make it in time to the meeting point, the entry prices to the deck are:

  • Adult: 5 CHF
  • Youths aged 10-16: 2 CHF
  • Children under 10: FREE
  • Passengers with a valid boarding pass on day of departure/arrival: FREE
  • Holders of the disability insurance (DI) certificate: FREE

Observation Deck B

Well, there’s not much to explain here other than this is where we will all hang out for the day! This observation deck offers a stunning view of the airport and ramp areas below where you’ll be able to watch all of the airside operations action live. It doesn’t get much better than that! From baggage handling to planes rotating on their way to somewhere nice. This is definitely the place to be…

Note: you can exit the observation deck and re-enter whenever you wish. If you do exit, you’ll be required to hand in your old entry pass in exchange for a new one.

Preparation & Security

Before setting off on your journey to Zurich Airport it’s important to ensure that you’re we’ll equipped for the full day out. So, before you leave, be sure to double check if you packed your camera and other essentials such as snacks! We also recommend bringing a rain jacket just in case it starts raining despite the fact that the deck has shelter.
Aside from that, you will be required to pass through airport security in order to gain access to the observation deck. Please ensure that you don’t pack anything that might not make it through security with you. All attendees will undergo the same security screening that a passenger travelling on holiday would. We would also recommend that bringing a form of ID just incase a member of staff at the airport asks for it.

Travel

So, you’re trying to find your way to Zurich Airport, huh? No need to fear, Dan is here to redirect you to Zurich Airports official website. Travelling to the airport couldn’t be any easier. There are fortunately many train, tram and bus services to and from the airport. Bonus points to those who fly into Zurich for this event!

Airport Facilities

You know the saying “the world is your oyster?” Well, the airport is your oyster. Fortunately, there are very many facilities around for us all!

There’s plenty of parking available for those on the road. In terms of toilets, these can be found all around the airport and the observation deck. As far as it goes for food and drink, there are plenty of options around, one of the most convenient being the Restaurant Aviolino located within observation deck B. There are also vending machines scattered around incase you fancy a quick snack. If you wish to grab food and drink elsewhere then you are more than welcome to do so. There are plenty of options outside of the observation deck such as, KFC, McDonalds, Pret A Manger and more…

Additional info

Please take care of yourself and others around you. Noises above 85dB can cause hearing damage so if you wish, bring hearing protection. Ages 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Masks are optional but welcome at the meet. Attendees are encouraged to respect their peers’ personal choices at all times.

Unfortunately, if a weather warning is issued, the observation deck can be closed last minute with short notice. For this reason we will compile a series of contingency plans to fall back onto in the worst case scenario.

  • Hand luggage with maximum dimensions of 60 x 40 x 20 cm is permitted.
  • Smoking is strictly prohibited.
  • For safety reasons, kickboards, skateboards and inline skates are not permitted.
  • There is no access to the boarding gates via the observation deck.
  • Larger pieces of luggage must be stored prior to accessing the observation deck.
