Your strategy for doing a 20 hour flights

For those of you who like to do Ultra Long Haul flights over 20 hours, how do you guys do it. What time do you start it at? How do you keep your device cool and working for that long?

I usually start my ULH flights in the early evening (around 6-8 PM), so I can sleep through most of it. I make sure to lower the brightness, turn on battery saver, and disable any unnecessary apps running in the background to keep my device cool. I also place my device on a flat, cool surface.

Generally I do my ULHs on two cycles, either departing before bed (around midnight) and landing around 8 PM or departing in the late afternoon (4 PM) and landing around noon.

I’ve got a fairly powerful device so I pretty much just follow the standard practices and it’s fine. Restart device before, nothing else running, low brightness, night mode camera aimed at the sky or interior drone cam aimed at a dark place in the cockpit. Sometimes I use a small desk fan and prop my iPad up using its case and have the fan blow on the back.

Start from 8 to 8 so try to get sleep but not stay up late

Before I takeoff, I make sure that there aren’t any apps open other than IF. I then takeoff, get to cruise, turn my brightness down to low, and charge my iPad. Then I go on with my day.

i do two cycles. normally i do 17 to 18 hour flights but i’ve done a few of these. i depart an hour or two before i go to sleep and just watch youtube or do other things. and before bed i put my device by my bed and on charge. i have automatic low power mode and sometimes set my device to low power mode. when i wake up the next day (before school), i use flight resume to pause my flight or other times just have it on. after school, i land the plane

Typically for me I depart at 9pm wait until I get to cruise altitude to sleep, and then land 7-11 depending on the length.
