Your Guide To The Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport

Your Guide To The Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport

image
Welcome to my guide on the Fort Lauderdale airport in Florida. Since tomorrow it will be the hub, it seems right for me to provide a little bit of information so you could fly the most realistic flight possible! It’s also my home airport so it would feel illegal not to do this.

Airport Layout

Fort Lauderdale has two runways, laid out parallel to each other. That would be 10L/28R and 10R/28L. Be advised that 10R/28L has a real slope in real life of 1.3 degrees. I don’t believe it shows in Infinite Flight, but please correct me if I’m wrong.

The terminals are laid out in a very standard configuration, laid out in a 1-4 numbered format. The terminals of all the airlines are listed below.

History of Fort Lauderdale Airport

I have a full topic about the history of FLL airport rain already. To see the full topic, please use the link below.

Should have known you posted this when I got the notification.

Awesome topic Zac. The SIDs are what interest me the most. When I departed for AUS from FLL a few weeks ago we took the VACAY SID. That sharp turn after takeoff gave some awesome views of the city.

It sure does!

Edited to provide the information that now Delta and American Airlines have inaugurated service from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles.

Does FLL use segregated runway operations or do they use both runways for arrivals and departures?

They generally use 10R/28L for arrivals into Terminal 3 and 4

They use runway 10L/28R for arrivals into Terminal 1 and 2

However, this changes during busy times when they use both at random based on the line length.
