About Kuwait Intl
Kuwait Intl is the main airport for Kuwait. It is the hub for Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways. Kuwait airport is located in the center of Kuwait. Kuwait Intl can currently handle a whopping 13 million people per year.
History of Kuwait Intl.
The airport was first launched in 1927–1928. It was originally envisioned as a stop for British planes on their way to British India. The current main airport structure, designed by Kenzo Tange and opened in 1979, was executed and completed by Al Hani Construction in a joint venture with Ballast Nedam.

Terminals
Kuwait International consists of 5 terminals , they are:
Terminal 1:
Terminal 1 was opened to the public in the 1990s. It used to serve as a hub for Kuwait Airways and Wataniya Airways (bankrupt). Terminal 1 also serves as a mini mall called the “Airport Mall”. Terminal 1 usually deals with non-Kuwaiti carriers.
Notice: As of June 4th 2026 Terminal 1 has been closed due to drone strike on June 3rd 2026.
Terminal 3:
Terminal 3 is also known as Sheik d Sa’ad terminal. It used to be an airport specifically for Fly Dubai. Now it just serves as an airport for GA and executives.
Terminal 4:
Terminal 4 was inaugurated on 8 August 2018 , it serves as a terminal for only Kuwait Airways.
The remote 4-5 parking spaces with T4 are used by Kuwait Airways.
Notice: As of June 18th 2026 all airlines are operating from T4 due to T1 being closed:
Terminal 5:
Terminal 5 is the terminal for Jazeera Airways only , it of just 2 gates. It is attached with terminal 1.
Note: One gate is blocked
Amiri Terminal:
The Amiri terminal is used for high ranking government officials and world leaders arriving into Kuwait.
Cargo City:
Cargo City is the latest addition to Kuwait International. Completed in March 2025 it is developed to position the country as a leading regional trade center. Cargo City’s western sectors functions as a US military aerial port. Cargo City also stations retired Kuwait Airways aircraft and few passenger Jazeera Airways Aircraft.
