Cochin International Airport, Situated in Kerala, India is the 4th Largest Airport in India, based on International Traffic. The Airport opened in 1999 has quickly expanded to become on of India’s Youngest Airports and it is the worlds first fully solar powered airport, Winning the United Nations Champions of the Earth Award in 2018 for their commitment to Solar Energy.
General Info
As Said Above, the Airport is the World’s first Airport Fully powered by Solar Energy, The Airport is the Largest in Kerala due to its Location and Size being right in the middle of Kerala.
The Airport handles mostly Traffic from the Gulf Regions of Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Riyadh, Doha due to a large number of Keralites Settling abroad with Family in Kerala. The Gulf is a major reason for the airports rapid development in International Traffic.
The Airport has Officially been turned into 3D in Infinite Flight in their 26.1 Update along with Beta
Terminal’s and Infrastructure
Cochin Intl Airport has 3 Large Terminals, as a result of rapid modernization to meet passenger demand. The Airport has seen 4 Main Phases in its Development.
Terminal 1 - Domestic

Cochin Intl Airport’s Terminal 1 was created originally as the international terminal and was in use until 2018 when International Operations moved over to the newly built Terminal 3. The Terminal Covers 600,000 Square feet with 10 Gates (7 Jet Bridges). The Terminal Features a 1400 Car Parking shielded with Solar Panels. The Terminal Features a Executive Lounge with an Airside View, Along with A Large foodcourt and Many Shops. The terminal hosts passengers flying Domestic routes on Air India, Indigo, Spicejet, Akasa, Alliance Air, Air India Express with their flights expanding to all over India with focused hubs at Mumbai, Delhi, Banglore and Chennai.
The Terminal Can Handles tens of thousands of passengers every day and it a very nice terminal.
Terminal 2 - Excecutive | Buisness Jet Terminal
Terminal 2 at Cochin Intl is the smallest out of all the Terminal only having around 110,000 Square Feet, this terminal handles all Private Aircraft and chartered flights, The Terminal has a large Lounge called the 0484 Lounge (Shown Above) giving the passengers a great experience before their Private Jet flight. Many Businessmen and Actors in India have used this terminal while flying into Kerala.
Terminal 3 - International
The International Terminal at Kochi is one of the largest Terminals in India, The Terminal covers over 1.4 Million Square feet with 4 levels, a Level Dedicated to a food court, 2 Lounges and 10 Gates allowing for seemless operations, The International Terminal is more active at Midnight with many flights from AirAsia, Singapore Airlines and many other airlines flying at that time. The Terminal handles all International Departures from airlines like AirAsia, Air Arabia, Air India Express, Indigo, Akasa, Batik Air, Malaysian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Etihad, Fly Dubai, Spicejet, Gulf Air, Kuwait Airlines, Jazeera Airlines, Saudia, Oman Air, Qatar Airlines, Vietjet, Lion Air, etc. The Terminal was opened in 2018 to sustain passenger demand and it still expanding as we speak, construction of more gates and terminal expansion projects are going on.
Runways
Cochin International Airport Operates on a Single Runway, Runway 09/27 which is 11,302ft Long and can handle aircraft as large as the Boeing 747. Approach into Kochi is always unique as we are able to see the main riverbodies around Nedumbassery town. The Fog and weather at Kochi is usually on the Rainier side most of the year. Winds can also make for a very challenging approach at Kochi, but most pilots ive spoken to talk very nicely about this airport due to its Greenery and Scenery.

Cargo Operations
Cochin International Airport has a very large Cargo complex, which is used by regular flights on SpiceXpress a subsidary of Spicejet as well as occasional flights from Emirates Cargo and Atlas Air.
