Along with Gatwick, Luton, City, Stansted and Southend, London Heathrow is one of six international airports located in the London area.

The airport facility is owned and operated by Heathrow Airport Holdings. In 2019, it was the second busiest airport in the world by international passenger traffic, the seventh busiest airport in the world by total passenger traffic, and the busiest airport in Europe by passenger traffic.
