For the last two years, wherever I’ve landed at, I take off from again. I have made myself a rule, that I can only ever visit the same airport a maximum of three times. Every flight I do has to exist in real life and I have to use the correct aircraft and airline. Yeah, I am a bit mental, but this has made me come across some fantastic routes I wish I had known before:
-
Skopje (LWSK) - Friedrichshafen (EDNY)
Friedrichshafen usually only has one flight served by a national airline a day, in this case, it‘s Wizz Air. The scenery on this route is amazing, e.g. the Alps and a huge lake next to Friedrichshafen.
-
Managua (MNMG) - Bluefields (MNBL)
This route is served by La Costena Airlines, which uses the Cessna 208. Unfortunately IF doesn‘t have the La Costena C208, so I‘d just use the generic livery, but at least a route that involves a C208!
3.Puerto Montt (SCTE) - Puerto Natales (SCNT)
Served by either the LATAM Airlines A320/A321 or the Sky Airlines A320. Again, the scenery is great on this one and the approach into Puerto Natales is in my opinion more challenging than at Funchal.
-
Dushanbe (UTDD) - Khujand (UTDL)
Served by the Somon Air (you‘re gonna have to use generic) Boeing 737-900, a less common version of the 737 for you. Again, a less known route for most of us, a short one, and great scenery.
-
Denpasar (WADD) - Dili (WPDL)
Served by Citylink. Timor- Leste, a country I bet you‘ve never visited in IF before. Dili has a short runway, which is more fun in my opinion because of the challenge. This one is just another less heard of route and a really pretty one, as you fly across some small Islands off of Indonesia.
I have only produced a short list of routes I could think of just now.
I bet I‘ll be kicking myself tomorrow morning wishing I had added this or that one.
The whole point of this post was to give you some fascinating routes to try, but also to encourage you to do more research into more exotic routes, instead of these (boring) common ones, which involve JFK, Heathrow, Paris, Rome, LA, Hawaii, Beijing, Sydney,…
All I want to know now is, how you find this post, what routes you‘ll try and of course if you have any more unusual route suggestions.
Have a nice evening, morning, night, or day.
