I’ve been having an issue with my flight yoke when disconnecting the autopilot. Everything works perfectly during the flight, but as soon as I turn off the autopilot, the yoke glitches and forces the aircraft into a strong pitch-up position, almost like a sudden takeoff attitude.
This has caused some control problems during critical phases of flight.
Has anyone experienced this before?
Hey!
This can happen for one (or both) of two reasons:
-
- Your device isn’t calibrated (this is an important step before disconnecting the autopilot, since it neutralises the control input from your device and sets the “zero input” point to your device’s current angle and position).
NB: To calibrate click the three bars in the bottom right of your screen → Calibrate.
-
- Your aircraft isn’t trimmed properly. You want to make sure there is no coloured bar in the trim box on the left hand side of the HUD. If the coloured bar is going down from the middle, you need more positive trim, and vice versa.
Alpha Tip: I recommend adjusting trim in no more than 5% intervals, so as to keep the subsequent adjustments the plane makes relatively gentle.
