Yet another retro flight!

Hello beautiful humans of IFC :waving_hand:
Last night to end the week, I decided to do a flight for Southwest Virtual, but just any flight… ohh no. I decided to replicate one of Southwests’ charter flights from the mid 80s to Jackson Hole! For the winter seasons between 1985 and 1990, Southwest flew their 737-200’s to Jackson :snow_capped_mountain:from Oakland, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Denver (Stapelton), Dallas-Love, Houston-Hobby and Chicago-Midway! Unfortunately we dont have the 732 in IF so I had to resort to the Desert Gold -700 :orange_heart::yellow_heart:!! Enjoy the photos

Flight Details

Server: Expert
Aircraft: B737-700
Departure Airport: Houston Hobby KHOU
Arrival Airport: Jackson Hole KJAC
Speed: Mach 0.78
Altitude: FL380, FL400
Flight Time: 3hrs

Sitting at gate 44 is our beautiful gold bird N742SW; a 1998 built 737-700 that was delivered to Southwest the same year! It was only a few gates down from my arrival gate where I flew in a few hours earlier on a Southwest max 8 :snow_capped_mountain:!

Departing right on time from 13R!

Passing over IAH at about 20,000 ft.

At our initial cruising altitude of FL380 as we fly over Dallas/Fort Worth airport!!

Hey it’s my home airport of DIA whilst I attend college in Northern Colorado!

Passing one of my Cheeky airports on initial descent to Jackson! Whoever guesses the bison correctly get’s a bison :upside_down_face:

Passing the town of Jackson on a left downwind visual approach for runway 19! The winds shifted as I was turning a long final for runway 01 over Alpine so I had to fly a visual approach around Black Tail Butte! For a very long time prior to Jackson getting an ILS system, this approach was quite frequently used by GA and Airliners alike!

Approach short final over the south entrance of GTNP and the small town of Moose WY :moose:

Passing the numbers at about 75 ft able with the beautiful Tetons towering in the background! Contarary to popular belief, The Grand Teton isn’t Wyomings tallest peak :sob:. It it Gannet Peak in the Wind River range which stands a stupid 35 feet taller .

Parked up at the south end of the terminal apron with another beautiful view of the mountains! :snow_capped_mountain::heart_eyes:
