Yampa Valley Airport Landing Competition | 18 APR 20
Welcome to the ultimate landing competition. With several waves, plenty of gates, and one of the most scenic approaches around, you are guaranteed to have a great time in the Colorado Rockies!
Yampa County Airport is a hot-and-high airport located just over the Rocky Mountains from the Mile-High City, what we like to call Denver. This airport is not as highly regarded as Paro or Kai-Tak, it still offers a very difficult approach through the Rockies with stringent maneuvers all around. The final turn is what gives this approach its fame. On one side of the runway is the town of Hayden. The other side is the Rocky Mountain Plateau. Is it a risk worth taking? You’ll just have to wait and see.
Procedurals
All aircraft must follow the RNAV (GPS) RWY 28 approach into the airport, as stated here:

This approach is not what it seems. When put into Infinite Flight, this path is not a straight line. This path winds through a valley. After winding through the valley, there is one last turn to line up with the runway. That last turn is what makes it so difficult. Good luck!
Rules:
- All aircraft must maintain 5 nm of separation.
- Maintain realism, as this is going to be held on the ES.
- Respect Unicom, as KHDN has no tower.
- If you miss the approach, go around.
- Crashes will result in immediate disqualification.
- Park at the Commercial Apron and Gates at KHDN.
