Indeed, the closure of this airport has greatly saddened aviation enthusiasts in Xiamen. From now on, we can only see it within Infinite Flight.
Why. Just why.
Xiamen Gaoqi Airport’s civil aviation operations will be fully relocated to Xiang’an. Located on Xiamen Island, Gaoqi only has a single 4E runway, surrounded by city and sea with nearly no room for expansion. The new Xiang’an Airport is a large 4F hub with dual runways. When Xiang’an opens, Gaoqi will stop civil flights.
Per community rules, the in-game Gaoqi Airport in Infinite Flight will also be removed.
I’m sorry. Cities need to develop, and we must learn to bid farewell to the past. But we will always miss it. It holds a place in the hearts of Xiamen people just as Kai Tak does for Hongkongers.
That’s really a pity.
