XCUB rocking a bunch

Today I was flying with the xcub and it suddenly just started violently rocking, there were only 4KTS of wind and I was flying at 12000 feet going at around 105KTS. These violent rocks only happen for a couple seconds each, I had a couple more along that flight as well.

Can someone please tell me what’s going on?

Could just be a gust of wind 🤷‍♂️

No gusts according to the wind monitor.

Well, it’s not like planes won’t rock at all. I wouldn’t be worried, to be honest. If you have any further screenshots or videos that may seem alarming, please don’t hesitate to post them.

It rocks to a bank angle of like 15-20 degrees. This has happened at least once on every XCUB flight during cruise.

Well, according to a quick Google search, the XCub’s ceiling is 11,500, so perhaps you may too high, especially considering it’s a light taildragger rather than a heavier, more powerful aircraft such as the TBM.

I have cruised at 10,000ft and it still happened.

The wind monitor may not always be precise to the second. I wouldn’t worry about it too much, considering the XCub is a light aircraft, subject to the slightest of winds. If it happens to the point where your flight profile goes haywire or you crash, that’s when I would be really concerned.

It almost disconnected. Give me a minute I will get some screenshots and a replay.

FL120 and on the other flight FL100.

What was your speed? Also were you using your autopilot?

Ladies and gents, I’d suggest reading the entire topic before posting.

I was using autopilot and LNAV

That could be the issue. Sometimes the autopilot trys to make its course perfect. So with the speed of the xcub being slow, it may be hard for the autopilot to keep a perfect heading.

It had already reached the perfect heading, if it was trying to find a heading it would keep turning the aircraft, but this was just 20 degree jerks.

I can’t add a replay because I just tried and it created a processor overload so I had to restart my iPad to get it working again.

Yeah thats the problem. The autopilot is overcorrecting itself. It may seem to have the perfect
heading but it doesnt.

But it only happens for like 5 second intervals spread apart by several minutes.
