Wrong wind perhaps?

Hey guys i just landed in Denver and for some reason the crosswinds were at 65 kts haha could it be a bug with the weather, Im not bothered as the flight was only 20 mins long but just wanted to see what it could’ve been?

Actually i just checked flight radar and the winds are indeed that strong

Maybe a storm :downcast_face_with_sweat:

Just looked at the KDEN atis IRL, it’s showing 190 @ 6kts

I also checked the metars for surrounding airports on ForeFlight and they agree for the most part with that wind I mentioned above. Looks like it may have been an issue with the measuring equipment for Denver at the time.

Must have been a tornado… the weather is calm there.

But for tornados to form, you likely need strong wind gradients.

Well, either a strong thunderstorm, a brief weak tornado, or a bug large enough to affect FR24 and IF’s weather provider

I find nothing in the metar history either:

It’s not super rare that we get extremely buggy METAR’s sometimes.
And yes, it’s very likely that FR24 are using the same API as we are (among with many, many others)
