Ok, how do I find the name of the ground controller that sent me to completely the wrong side of the airport for my airline so I can teach them who goes where? I looked everywhere in the replay.
I don’t think that you can find the name of the controller. Which server are you on?
What server and airport was this at? Did you request a gate?
Training. It was an empty airport but I have severe OCD over details.
You can’t expect a controller on Training Server, let alone on Expert Server to know, or even bother about which airlines park at which terminals. It’s more about making sure the airport runs efficiently and smoothly.
Training. I wanted to but they were jhonny on the spot direct every turn and wasn’t going to argue on the radio. Its not a big deal but im picky about details at my home airport.
On Expert Server, we don’t do this. You can request a specific gate but otherwise we will just tell you to “taxi to parking at your discretion” and intervene if necessary to prevent any conflicts.
A lot of controllers on Training Server have no clue how to use ATC instructions properly.
Right, so they shouldn’t have me cross from the East side to the West side to park. That’s not efficient.
Ive been told to go to the parking that I want at my discretion and am normally not bothered by ATC unless they HAVE to or they need to correct my heading. Most of the time they tell me to go and go to the next plane in line.
In this case you’ve probably just stumbled upon a manipulative Training Server ATC who doesn’t know what he/she is doing. Once you get to ES, though, this wouldn’t happen since I believe the IFATC team is instructed specifically not to force aircrafts to taxi to specific gates at the ATC’s choice. It’s written in the ATC manual, if I’m not mistaken.
This is correct, we only issue taxi instructions to a gate if the pilot requests a specific gate.
Thanks. Good to know.
