Wrong Airport Frequency

Device: iPad 10th Generation
Operating system: 18.2 (Beta)

I was at KSEA a few days ago, and as I was waiting for takeoff on the tower frequency, another pilot was told to contact Portland Ground. It audibly said Portland Ground as well as the text readout at the top of the screen. This makes absolutely no sense, since Portland and Seattle are hundreds of miles apart in different states, so I’m just very confused about what happened here.

That’s odd, on the airport properties the frequencies are correct, and it’s not 121.90, it’s 121.70.

Hello!

What happened here, most likely, is a controller’s mistake. When two relatively close airports are being controlled, sometimes it may show all of these airports’ frequencies (so not only the ones of the controlled airport but also the ones of the nearby airports) under the “Contact other frequency” tab. For this, I imagine, the controller misclicked and sent an aircraft to KPDX Ground mistakenly.

I hope things are clearer now! I had this happening yesterday when controlling Ground & Tower at KPDX when I noticed how (as always, I’d say), I could send aircraft to KSEA Approach and even Tower, despite being controlling a totally different airport.

Are Portland and Seattle “relatively close” enough for this to happen? It’s about 150 miles between the two airports.

It seems so. I’m almost certain that what happened in the case you described is what I told you above, also because I experienced it myself yesterday, as mentioned above :)
