WOW Air To Relaunch As PLAY: Ticket Sales Delayed

This is NOT Michelle Ballarin’s Wow 2.0 “Fish Cargo Service”

That kinda hurts my eyes ngl.

The airline has chosen the A321 as the launch aircraft according to CEO Arnar Már Magnusson.

  • They expect to carry about 200 passengers.
  • They plan to fly east and west of Iceland to the U.S. and Europe like the former WOW Air.
  • Initial operations will focus on European routes only with A320s.
  • The airline is yet to reveal a firm launch date but says it plans to start flying within Europe before the end of this year
  • By spring 2020, it expects to have six A320 family aircraft and to begin services to the USA.

PLAY will intially launch service to Alicante, Berlin, Copenhagen, London, Paris, Tenerife.

Unknown which London Airport at the moment.

This seems rather hopeful compared to Ballarin’s “WOW 2.0” that’s been delayed numerous times.

Very simple and bright livery -

I’m not gonna lie - i think the name is weird and I don’t like the livery

But interesting news.

Very interesting, lets see what they do with this. Personally, I am not a huge fan of the livery but thats my opinion.

Loved the purple. I associate the colour red with evil. It gives me a bad vibe.

Aw, why would they do that? #bringbackthepurple

Too much colour with that background…

Hopefully looks better IRL.

Will be interesting to see how the business model will be, but “play” isn’t exactly pointing to high-quality onboard service/products.

Ow my eyes hurt
Never heard about WOW’s experience, seen their purple planes, or wished to fly them to Iceland, but this stands out.
I don’t really like the name, and the livery… ow my eyes hurt.

I don’t know if it was supposed to be a PLAY on words, but WOW it really is a terrible name.

No… just no… at least they’re going back to their signature “Let’s use vibrant colors to get everyone’s attention” business model.

All I have to say is WOW 😉! They are really going for the cheap fast food restaurant look in my opinion 😂

Sorry but that livery is horrific 🤢

Colour is ok (well sort of ok) but that is wayyyy to saturated. Either down the background so we can see by it’s actual self or down the saturation of the plane

There’s too much red and it’s kind of similar to Air Greenland.

Yeah, I don’t like the livery but the logo is kinda cool (I guess).

Y’all are hating the livery, and here I am soaking it up. Its a weird, different, unusual and odd color like that of Spirit Airlines. Bright, vibrant, eye catching, and one that people will talk about as they see it fly over. If you think about it, its kind of a marketing strategy without them having to do much work. Its a money maker!

  • Paint a plane bright red…
  • someone looks up in the sky and see’s red plane…
  • person goes on their phone and types into Google “bright red plane/red plane”…
  • person is directed to PLAY’s information and website…
  • possible new customer

I like it! 😍

I suppose you have a point. Old WOW air had an eye catching livery too.

The livery is definitely an eye-catcher and is a good marketing strategy. The logo is quite clever as the A and Y sort of make a plane. I’m pretty sure the general majority of the public had the same reaction when WOW’s livery was unveiled but over time praised it for being so unique. I’m not really surprised they went all “Spirit” on the livery because of its sorta being their main symbol.
Also I’ve seen this plane countless times:
