Worst delay

A 10 hour flight turned into a 14 hour flight because of bad weather in Amsterdam. We got stuck on the ground for 4 hours.

This was sort of a delay??? So China airlines has this thing where you can stay in Shanghai for a day without a visa instead of a 12 hour layover. We book it, fly to China and guess what! They say we can’t do it??? So we spent 12 hours in Changi airport. oh and we paid extra

Had to carry the burden of missing the first shuttle bus from the hotel to the airport which meant we got to the airport late almost missing check-in. Luckily, it was a domestic Delta flight so we checked in online. Instead of us being Group 2, we boarded with Group 4 but welp, Sea-Tac was crowded and there was a lack of de-icing trucks which meant we were on the ground for up to 2 hours. Original departure time was 9:08 AM but it became 10:59 AM. I was able to finish 2 movies in the delay time.

Probably my worst delay (although nowhere near as bad as some of you guys) was when I went to New York in January.

Original flight itinerary: KFAR-KMSP-KJFK

We board the plane in FAR on time but it took an hour to de-ice. (Understaffed and 10 degrees outside) and we missed our 30 minute connection in MSP. Luckily, and huge thanks to Delta for this, it automatically rerouted us through Columbus Ohio weirdly enough. Anyway, we arrive at MSP just as they were boarding for the flight to Columbus, thankfully it was the gate next to us. We take off from MSP relatively on time but on our decent we encounter some of the worst turbulence in my life before landing in Columbus in a middle of a thunderstorm. It eventually turned into 2 hours that we were in Columbus. We were so desperate we tried getting on an earlier flight to LGA but it was full. Delayed even more, we finally took off from Columbus and encountered even worse turbulence, so much so that we couldn’t even get to our cruising altitude. We eventually land in New York in the same storm that was in Columbus but not as bad. Being we were supposed to land at around 6:00 pm we were going to go to the rooftop pool at the TWA hotel that night. However it was understandably closed at 11:00 pm when we got there. On the upside, we got upgraded to a runway view room where I did some plane spotting. Anyway, we ended up getting in 4 hours after our scheduled arrival but hey, I did get to visit Ohio, which I have never done before. Pictures from the hotel down below ⬇️
Sorry the nighttime ones are blurry. (especially the BA and China Airlines ones)

That’s a very…vivid description of the sink issue.

Which airline was that?

i went to Guangzhou, China in 2017, we flew with China southern from JFK-CAN no problem, but on the return got to the airport at maybe half past 3pm, a healthy 3 hours before our 8 o’clock flight to JFK. we when we got to the gate a maybe 7 or so we were told that the Aircraft, a 777-300Er had a “technical difficulty” leaving Shanghai. That was about 2 hours, so when out plane arrived at like 10 pm, some weather rolled in and i swear you couldn’t even see the plane from the gate window. that as like and house, then we finally boarded, and when we pushed out of the gate, we were told that we were like 20th in line fore takeoff due to the rain delays, so we took off at basically midnight. We had booked a hotel in New York, but you can imagine we’d be sleeping on the plane. that delay meant that we missed our 7 am flight to my home CLT from JFK, but that also meant we had last minute tickets to CLT at like 10 AM, so that meant i would get my first and last flight on an American 757-200, so i was content.
