I’m quite new to this community, so apologies if this has been asked before.
I’ve been playing this game on and off for a while now. I see all these awesome landings other users are pulling off, but I just can’t seem to nail a good landing. (I’m only using an iPhone)
I’m curious, how do most users play this game? Do you use a joystick or play without one?
For those using a joystick, any recommendations on which one to buy?
Joysticks work with android simply by plugging them into the device. With IOS, you have to have a computer (doesn’t have to be a powerful computer) and download Map Connect to make it work.
If you can, could you recommend which Android tab and joystick I should buy? I’m on a budget for a tab and joystick, and I’ve tried researching it, but it’s been really confusing.
I saw a YouTuber using an Android tab with a joystick and an adapter. Do I need an adapter too?
I play without a joystick. Before I used the bottom camera which showed me my landing gear, now I use my HUD camera since there is a FPV on the HUD which is actually insanely useful and points on where the aircraft is going towards so you aren’t late or early. Because of this landing has become insanely easy, and I’ve only had pro for 2 days LOL
I don’t have any recommendations for an android tablet, but for joysticks you could get the Logitech Extreme 3D pro which is roughly $35 USD and is the best value. It’s connected via USB so if the android tablet is anything different you’ll need to get an adapter.
Whatever adapter works for the android device. If the android is a USB-C plugin then you’d get something like this. If the tablet is a regular USB plugin then no adapter is needed.
Try practicing in solo mode, and taking advantage of the “short final” button in the pause menu, try using the A220 first and try advancing to bigger aircrafts, which is what I did
I wouldn’t recommend using the short final function in solo mode. It often puts you on an highly unstable approach with a few hundred feet to go. Not conducive to great landings. I would go to any random airport with a sufficiently long runway on live and just do pattern work. Start out with around 5 mile finals, and then work your way into a tighter pattern as you become more confident in your abilities to stabilize the aircraft in shorter timeframes. While you will most likely be getting less landings, the quality of your practice will be higher, and any time manually controlling the aircraft is at least a little beneficial.
I do agree with starting with the A220 though—just a slight flare and it practically lands itself!
@SAS_Captain As for the original question of joystick usage, I have not tried Infinite Flight with a joystick yet, but I used to fly X-Plane with a joystick and it was pretty nice (I use a yoke now). As others have said, there are fairly cheap ones out there so if you find that you aren’t liking tilt controls it might be worth a try.
Yeah I’ve noticed I need to add quite a lot of throttle so I don’t stall, however I like using it because it’s quicker than just going around and practicing landings especially with a big airliner
I know this is late (been very busy lately), but thank you so much for the answer. I really appreciate it. ❤️
It’s very confusing for me right now to grasp which tablets and joysticks are recommended. From what I gather, some work while others don’t. I’m still researching on it though. But again, thank you so much. 🙏
