Will Emissions Laws Close UK Airports?

https://www.transportxtra.com/publications/local-transport-today/news/62997/every-airport-and-port-must-close-for-climate--academics/

Was catching up on some of my aviation reading and noticed this 2019 article from TransportXtra. I know that reducing emissions is important, but it would seem that closing airports would have a negative impact on the traveling public and those who are considering aviation careers in the UK. If someone has knowledge of this, please shed some light on it for the community. Thanks for any information you can provide.

Seems unrealistic for every airport in the country to become net carbon neutral by 2050. Most airport emissions are likely from the airframes themselves, so that’s on the manufacturers and airlines. As for the airports themselves, it seems possible. But going to the extremes that the article suggests would be completely unrealistic and would indeed cause major harm to the local aviation community and industry.
