Why „Straight-Out Departures Only” isn’t just a Turn of Speech

An incident occurred at Chicago O’Hare Airport on Friday around noon when it came to a very close call between two passenger airliners. An Envoy E145 (Flight 3603) and an American 737 (unknown flight number), took of from parallel runways when the Envoy E145 reportedly began to make a turn towards the American 737 instead of continue to departure straight out.

ATC noticed the mistake and instructed the planes to turn in order to get them separated.
