Why Plane Windows Are Round

They started figuring this out when the Comets kept suddenly exploding and breaking up in flight in the 50s; the Comet used square windows, which weakened the airframe enough that the pressurized cabin would break the aircraft apart. Boeing and MaddDog took from their example and used round windows on the 707 and DC-8.
