Hope this is what you are looking for! If you have any more question, feel free to ask.

What altitude were you at? If you were below 10000 feet, the limit is 250 knots.

kind of understood thanks for replying

I was at Flight level 350

Alright. What aircraft were you flying?

The airbus a320

No problem! If you have any more questions feel free to ask!

No regular commercial jet in the world flies that fast.

For the A320 it’s optimal crusing speed is at Mach 0.78 which roughly accumulates to 290kts at FL280 where your Airspeed (KIAS = Knots in indicated Airspeed) changes over to Mach speed.

So try to keep your speed at or around 190 kts as you pass FL280 also you can always spees up or down once you see you mach speed, if it’s incorrect.

Also the maximum cruising speed for the A320 is Mach 0.82 so, don’t go above that, and the A320 can fly perfectly fine at 0.78 as that what it does IRL for the vast majority of the time.
