Why not use Parachutes?

  1. Weight
  2. Opening doors in flight is currently impossible.

Have you personally every jumped off a plane with a parachute?

I have twice tandem (with an instructor) and once solo. My first jump I was scared and if it wasn’t for the instructor I would not want to jump out. Take this from someone who flies a min 70 hrs a month.

I don’t care what people say, it’s scary. Will I jump again? Yes.

Now imagine this with the general population who are scared of heights. Let alone velocity. Know how long you would be alive at or above FL20? Look it up.

You throw in the general population who are scared of small bugs jumping out of crashing plane won’t mix well.

One can’t compare trained armed (army, Navy and air pilots to regular) they are a cut above regular commercial pilots and on a whole another level over the general population.

Lives matter. Safety IS number one priority in aviation and will always be. BUT accidents, will happen. Sad, but true :(

Am i biased voting this as the best reasoning here!..well this explains a lot tbh…at least I’ve got an answer when asked by my younger siblings

at FL380 you can’t breathe anyway so it would be useless

Would childeren jump🤔

if you jumped out of the normal doors you would end up hitting the wings of the plane or get sucked into the engine as the plane is moving much faster then you, thats why you would need a ramp on the back of the plane

One very important factor for all this. If the pilots jump who is controlling the aircraft? If the aircraft is uncontrolled it basically turns into a several ton unguided bomb filled with aviation fuel that could hit anywhere. Also if the pilots can land the aircraft mostly intact or even in several major pieces it will make figuring out what went wrong with the plane a lot easier thus preventing more accidents.

I agree it’s a stupid idea I don’t get how you would store 300 parachute anyway and it’s more effort then needed for a very safe form of transport

I heard on some test planes pilots have parachutes in case something goes wrong.

The Cobalt CO50 Valkyrie has a parachute built in, and so does the Virrus, I feel like cirrus is like Volvo, always making large advances in safety. (I know these went commercial.)

yes i think airbus use them for test flight at the early stage but I’m not sure i could be imagining things 😂

I read about that somewhere A few years ago.

Yes they do, Link below they have a hatch as well to avoid being sucked into the engines

How would you not get hypoxia from jumping out a plane at 30 000ft-45 000ft, I mean if you release your chute above 25 000 you’re going to get hypoxia.
