Why is there no taxi instruction for Tower?

Hello IFC!

I wanted to know why tower control cannot tell aircraft to taxi. I listen to a lot of ATC mostly at PHL since that is my home airport, and I hear Tower giving aircraft taxing instructions. Lately there has been a lot of diversions to PHL from airports like EWR, JFK, LGA, IAD, BWI and RDU. Saturday at 8:24pm EDT a British Airways 777-200ER landed at PHL. The tower controller gave the aircraft taxi instructions and told the crew to remain on tower frequency.

Drag and taxi has been a game changer for Infinite Flight local control. It’s been in the game for a bit now and I would like to propose extending its capabilities to tower. In the real world, it’s uncommon to simply receive a “exit runway when able” command. Instead, tower usually has a taxiway in mind that they would like you to exit on. Additionally, they usually give you the first few taxiways of your taxi to keep aircraft moving after exiting the runway. This would not only help the local controller keep an organized taxi pattern, but it would help cut down on the dreaded pilot that stops before the hold short line to contact ground.
