Why does Copa Airlines’ livery look EXACTLY like United’s?

It’s a question I’ve had for a long time.

Copa airlines is apart of star alliance which united is apart of too.

In 1998, continental airlines (now united airlines) acquired 49 percent of the airline and then increased it to 51 percent the year later. Since then, copa has adopted a livery and logo similiar to continental airlines. This is why they are similiar.

United got their livery from Continental when they merged, so it’s not actually United’s ;)

But UA unveiled a new livery a while back so they’ll be pretty different once you see them side-by-side

THANK YOU! Someone who actually searches the answer that isn’t me. I’m tired of always being that person.
