Why do Airbus wings tend to flex less than Boeing Wings?

Actually the A380 has almost that much wingflex as the 787. if you ever had wingseat in the A380 you can notice how low the outer engines stand before starting the takeoff roll, and once it reaches about 100kts you see the engines coming up and up.

Alright let’s put things straight:

The A380 wings are the best ever built

Why?? Because you name a wing of a plane that can cope with 626 tones keep in mind that 1000KG in a ton keep in mind that they have to also go though all the stresses that a normal plane would face. Turbulence etc etc etc

And not wing is not good because, well it’s comman sense really… The more the wing will flex the more it will be likely to break because of the flex.

Which would = up to another factor of Airbus being better than Boeing in my opinion

Apparently the best thing about wing flex is a comfortable flight so if your flight was not comfortable on a Airbus A380 then you could complain about the wing flew but I bet you it was the smoothest flight in which point you shouldn’t complain as they each have their own way they make their wings

Interesting. How would wing flex make a flight smooth?

How would that work??

Not only that, less stiff wings do allow for the dampening of turbulence. As the force imparted on the aircraft is not translated to vertical acceleration but rather the movement of the wings.

Keep in mind that the wing doesn’t need to move much to absorb turbulence, it is about how much force is taken away from the passenger compartment. It might take more force to flex the wings in a visible manner but it doesn’t take away from the dampening performance of the wing.

Ah, because more is better isn’t it? It’s about optimizing the wing to the airframe, the A380 wing is actually too big for the plane it’s lifting. A smaller wing for the A380 would’ve been better.

I have to disagree with you sir because what I meant by it being best wing ever built is that it can carry tones and tones of fuel and lift 626 tones, cope with the normal stress of flight, fit within the taxi rules of that airport (a plane can only have a certain length from wing tip to wing tip) it also has indeed the best airframe and has to be as light as possible (which it is)

It’s an amazing peace of technology

guys he asked why airbus wings flex less the boeing wings
not a debate on which company is better

There is no stopping of argument between Airbus fan and Boeing fan

Alright, but please stop presenting your opinion as fact. When you say things like:

You’re presenting it as a fact when it is actually your opinion. Please keep the line between fact and opinion clear.

Negative AdarshIndi. Saying that for the number of them built and hours flown, their safety rating is absolutely remarkable.

An analysis by Boeing on commercial jet airplane accidents in the period 1959–2013 showed that the original series had a hull loss rate of 1.75 per million departures versus 0.54 for the classic series and 0.27 for the Next Generation series. (“Statistical Summary of Commercial Jet Airplane Accidents – Accident Rates by Airplane Type” (PDF). www.boeing.com. Boeing. August 2014. p. 19.)

Actually some of the roughest and most sustained turbulence I’ve experienced were on a 747-400 and a 737-300.

It was amazing though and I was surprised by how very little runway we needed to take off in the 380 I was riding in out of Frankfurt.

That’s not the best way to go about testing a plane’s turbulence dampening methods, your turbulence will vary from flight to flight, I’ve been on Airbus aircraft going through air that made passengers scream, I’ve been on Boeing aircraft that went through air that made passengers scream, it depends more on the day than the aircraft most of the time.

Like I said, the A380 has way too much wing. It is a very capable aircraft.
