Why did flying get boring?

Nice idea actually. I’ve been trying to get 1000 hours in under 3 months but I lost the motivation because more flights = more freedom time lost = bored = not achieving goal at all so I need a break and maybe make another short hop with the Lufthansa a319 between Frankfurt and Belgium. Then I get demotivated because I think I don’t get 1000 hours and this is when everything goes downhill. My brain forces me to keep doing flights so I can achieve it but it gets more boring and harder to cope with it. I need to take a break and get it under control. I consider changing my goal to 750 hours and get the rest later so I’m not under so much pressure

Maybe start off with less of a target. For example 100 hours, and when you surpass that you’ll feel rewarded and then try to see for 200 etc, each time you achieve the target you’ll get a boost and you might feel more encouraged that way

Good idea, I will try to get 100 hours in just 2 weeks or less. Considering I am almost at 400 I don’t have to do much anymore, and when I got 100 I am already at 500 hours. This will motivate me and give a boost because I am already halfway to 1000

I feel like the AP has gotten way too realistic. Idk about y’all but I always used to hand fly all my flights and now I just use the AP. Definitely makes for more realism, but also makes it feel like an idle game

Flying gets boring for me to, but that’s why I joined virtual airlines is to have routes irl that I can do. Mainly regionals into airport or states that little people know about. I also joined IFATC for when I don’t want to fly, I can control. If I’m bored with those two I’ll edit an airport, even fly and edit.

If I’m bored with all of those I’ll take a break for a week or a few days and touch some grass. Eventually the flying urge will come back.

I mean I think it would end up boring if you hand fly a flight any longer than like… 30 mins? Just personally speaking, i enjoy hand flying but you kinda have to use autopilot for most flights since with the whole world at your disposal your flights are probably at least like an hour long. But on solo and if restricted to the shorter routes like KLAX-KSAN as example, I suppose those could be hand flown… but I don’t think autopilot is the blame here as you’ve put.

Just saying that auto pilot has its place and I think it’s safe to assume for most people it adds to the experience rather than detracts from it. Not necessarily the autopilot that causes the boredom, but I guess I can see what you mean about how it may play a slight part in making it boring.

Well haha , go check RFS and I’m sure you will say that you ain’t wanna fun but calmness in your flights !!!

Good idea. I find rfs pretty nice, I got 200 flight hours on it and it’s calm and have many features

That’s normal.

You can consider doing some group flights too. It can be funny entertaining sometimes.

Even fly out or fly in busiest airports. With active ATC, and they will be giving you lots of instructions, vectoring, you may find them interesting.

And try some scenic flights, as lots of people mentioned in the IFC many times! Mountains, sea, etc.

You can try dog fighting with your co pilot from community, or you can trying flying space with different fighter jets! Try to experience the world from 160,000 ft!

I agree, I’m not saying AP is a bad thing. It definitely makes it less of a game and more of a simulator though.

I tried RFS and it’s CHAOTIC imo, when you go for landing they aren’t configured at all, the controls are either extreme sensitive or not sensitive at all, I wanted to initially say RFS is better because of all the features but IF is definitely more calm lol

Well well, agree. But Scenery and Feeling of flying, take off landing the plane is more realistic in IF.

Flying in IF did get boring cause I was constantly flying from either Tulsa, Split, Zagreb, or Chicago. But what I did was make a random generator list where I chose a list of airlines that operate to this day. I find it very interesting to fly a random airline and explore parts of the world. Currently, I’m flying with Thailand Air A333 from BKK to Tokyo Intl’. I have 13 more destinations to go to, which would be 26 flights remaining. Trust me it’s worth it, I even top it off with a random generator of jets. When I’m flying from BKK to HND, two planes fly there, which are the A333 and the A359. So what did is I randomly generated the two planes and got the A333.

Usually when I start getting bored of flying, which does happen every now and then. I try to take a break from IF for a couple days. Then I end up watching aviation related on YT and it gets me back in the mood to fly again. It happens

I definitely do which is why I take a few days off every now and again. That being said don’t feel obligated to play this game so much enjoy doing other things and come back when you’re ready.

I tried flying AA today and was pretty nice. I’m always excited and in good spirit when I try out something new

Fly to Paro airport, It’s a really challenging airport to land at.
