Why are these two planes flying in circles?

I’m doing a long-haul flight in Training, and I couldn’t help but notice these two planes flying in circles over Antarctica. It’s been six hours, and they’re still doing it. What are they up to?

There can be sometimes up to 5 or 6 aircrafts circling at the same area at once Me included

but how you keep the plane flying in circles with the auto pilot?
