Why are some pilot epaulettes silver?

When I was at the airport last summer I saw some pilots with silver epaulettes. I’m confused about what the meaning behind the Silver Epaulettes

Junior vs Senior?

@Jdichter, @Pilothodge80, and @Heavydriver can probably answer that question for you.

Pretty sure that there is no main difference. Its a preference between each of the airlines/corporation.

There is no difference, it is usually an airline uniform requirement. Air Canada and their regional carriers use the traditional thick gold bars while WestJet and its subsidiary use evenly spaced thin silver stripes for their uniforms.

No difference. It’s Airlines preference. One company I flew for used silver. The one I fly for now uses gold

Thanks everyone I now understand why there are silver and gold

Because they are lesser pilots who haven’t sacrificed enough to the flying gods
