I was flying from Detroit to New York with Delta 757-200. While landing in JFK runway 31L some dude in Etihad 787-10 rolled in the very end of runway 31L. I said that i was on final.
Should i make go around in this situation, because i did not know is it normal to planes stand and wait for takeoff in the “remote part” of runway. BUT, while i was thrust reversing on the runway, the guy started takeoff, altough he knew that i was there. And rolled straight into me with speed of 100kts!
Am i right if i say that the part of runway witjout any marks is not landing zone, and you need to fly until touchdown zone marks? Because that is what i did.
Did i make a mistake because i did not make go around, or did he vecause he entered to runway that i was using?

While yes it probably wasn’t sensible for them to enter the runway if you were on short final, if they were already on the runway before you reached it you should’ve gone around.
You want to aim for the touchdown marks yes.

But he taxed to the runway when i was on the very final, like 5nm. I did not make go around because i thought he would just wait me to land and exit the runway.
Unfortunately a lot of people on the multiplayer servers don’t seem to have any spacial awareness so while its understandably frustrating when someone else gets in your way - the best thing to do is just accept it and take avoiding action yourself.

Yeah, I’ve had plenty times of unaware people- even on higher level servers. Only when atc came on did he come to his senses.

No, you did do something wrong. If this were on Expert, any IF Moderator or IFATC Supervisor that saw you land on top of them basically would report you for failure to go around. Others making dumb decisions does not give you an excuse to follow suit. Go around next time.

Well, that’s because it’s a sim. If there would be ATC they could report him.
It wasn’t your fault at first. In this situation you need to go around. Forcing a landing while a plane is obviously doing a take off is as wrong as entering a runway when a plane is on short final.
But at least, the initial fault was him.
Hi there, this might seem controversial but i do think this is your fault.
As the pilot YOU have to judge if it was safe or not based on factors such as; server or experience.
No worries though, we all get there eventually 😄.
