Which engine type do you like best?

I was just wondering what everyone thinks of each major engine brand. Which one is the most comfortable, quietest; all around best.

  • Pratt and Whitney
  • General Electric
  • Rolls Royce
  • Other (please describe)

don’t really know
doesn’t make much difference to me as long as it doesn’t break and make the plane crash.

I mean, my favorite looking engines are the RR RB-211 because they don’t have the cowling showing (that’s what I don’t like about most engines) but my favorite overall are the GEnx engines because they power my 2 favorite planes (787 and 747-8)

On the 757, Pratt and Whitney hands-down (for the rocket ship 🚀 factor). Otherwise GE for the super cool GEnx.

GE wins for me. The sound of a GE90 is one of the best sounds in the world.

GE won like in 6th February 1995 when the GE90 took flight.
The GE90 definitely takes the day.

Well, Pratt and Whitney offer amazing geared turbofans, GE offer multi use, environmental engineering and Rolls Royce offer easily the most powerful engines found on commercial aircraft i.e the Trent XWB. I had the privilege of touring the Filton Rolls Royce plant and it was truly incredible

Everyone who offers their opinion needs to also provide their qualifications to make such a distinction.

Are you:

An aerospace engineer?

A pilot who has flown many of these variants?

Or

A sim pilot?

One of these is unqualified. I’ll leave it to you to guess which.

The aerospace engineer right?
