Hello! I’m currently on a flight from RJTT-VHHH and I’m around 130NM from Hong Kong at the moment. Is there an exact time when I should contact Hong Kong center?
Edit: 284 nm , 130 was when I should begin descent.
You should contact Center when you are within the FIR zone (the white outline on the map). Center can contact you when you are around 400NM away from their base; so if the base of Center is at VHHH then they will be able to contact you within a 400NM radius. Sometimes the 400NM radius does not extend to the end of the FIR, like in very large Center zones like Oceania, in which case you’ll need to contact Center when you are 400NM away from its base, regardless if you’re in the FIR zone or not.
That makes sense, thank you so much.
What he said 😂
I saw you two replying, I wondered who would finish first 😂
Well, He beat me. Sometimes I wonder why I always LOSE the race on the IFC 😂
Lets not get too off topic :)
