6.5.3
When there is no Radar controller present, Tower must issue a pattern entry and clearance to ALL aircraft as a MINIMUM, regardless of what the aircraft uses to check in on the Tower frequency. The use of sequencing will be dependent on traffic.
If you called inbound on the ILS you will receive a check help pages instruction, the Tower controller was simply following protocols to issue a check help pages instruction.
@KyleBoas… MaxSez: 6.5.3 is clear and concise. Since it does not required a “Check Help” Call Out why is it Interposed. The “Check” call in this case is Ambiguous, confusing and serves no useful purpose. It is “not” a learning experience or helpful and appears to be an unapproved individual Controllers self help initiative. What say you?

Most of us don’t use “Check help” as a warning. It’s not meant to scare the pilot, rather just inform him that he could have done something better in the given situation.
Not really helpful, but I get the humour!
If you have read the topic and the replies, I guess you could have an idea of what we’re getting at here. Cheers!
@azeeuwnl. MaxSez: On the ILS or Visual are two very different type of Approaches, I use Visuals all the time, at 090 at 20 even as old as I am I can still see the “Airport” and I expect a handoff to Tower most. Rickey-itchy. Vectors stop at “In sight. No Approach, any menu option should be used by any type Approach as noted. Pilots option. Think we have an interpretation problem here…

@KyleBoas. MaxSez, Gotta listen to the bosses. They are Challengeable on this one when it conflicts with 6.5.3. This Topic Author sets the stage, “What did he do wrong still begs an answer.
