When do you request departure?

Why would you request departure if you already announced that you were departing the airspace when requesting for takeoff?

Hey,

You don’t request departure if you’ve already indicated your intention to leave airspace. The Tower controller will, in due course, pass you over to the Departure controller or just approve your frequency change.

The only time you request departure is when you’re changing your intentions. For example, ending pattern work and departing airspace.
