The old topic (What's your local airport?) got closed due to inactivity, so I decided to give it a re-boot. When I say local, it doesn’t have to be an airport in your town, it can be the nearest airport to you.
Anyways, I live about 15 minutes north of Brookhaven Calabro Airport, a moderately sized GA airport. The nearest airport to me with passenger service is about 30 minutes west of me, Long Island MacArthur Airport. I fly out of that airport at least once yearly on Southwest Airlines nonstop to FLL to visit relatives. After that, I live about a little over an hour east of JFK.
I also live about 10 minutes NW of Calverton Airport, but it’s closed down now. It was used to make parts for planes in WWII, and to test those planes too.
I live about 45 minutes from the Quad City International Airport (KMLI) and 30 minutes from Whiteside County Aiport (KSQI). KMLI gets regional jets and GA most of the time and KSQI gets GA. The closest international airport to me would be Chicago O’hare International Airport (KORD) which is about 2 hours away.
There are three airports near me:
Baltimore/Washington International Airport(KBWI) - 30 minutes Northeast
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport(KDCA) - 35 minutes South
Washington Dulles International Airport(KIAD) - 45 minutes Southwest
I live so close to VMMC (MFM) that I can see it when I walk my dog :P Its like a 2 minute drive from my house. If you look at my profile picture, that’s when we went for a walk in a hill near our house, it has a really good view of the airport.
