What's the point in GA on Infinite Flight?

Why, on almost every ATC controlled airport, do they announce “no light aircraft accepted at this time” despite there being GA accommodations?

Airports like KOAK, KSAN, KSNA, etc etc… they never allow anything smaller than a Challenger 350. Not once have i ever seen ATIS without the small craft advisory.

Why have all these GA planes when we arent allowed to use them around ATC?

Makes absolutely zero sense to me.

So we can fly to the thousands of small airports in the game.

Not all of us wanna fly to ATC hubs, and not all of us want to fly huge airliners every time we fly…

Correct but if KOAK is under ATC and im in a 208 i should be allowed to go to the GA terminal that is on the entire opposite side of the airport with their own set of runways.

well actually, not every GA is considered a light aircraft, as seen in the ATC manual, here:

so yes.. planes like a TBM are, surprisingly, not a light aircraft

Ive been rejected in the past for using those

Just seems like a “i dont wanna” from ATC

oh, that’s odd-
maybe it’s because the term light aircraft could be generalized into GA.
well.. at least I was surprised knowing that most ga we have isn’t considered light

well, who knows :person_shrugging:

This might sound rude but idk how else to put it, it seems lazy. I dont see the difference in the rare occasional 172 at KSAN coming when its slow vs dealing with 17 A350s on final

Yeah that’s dumb, especially if it’s not packed with people idk why they won’t let you fly there

Like i said KOAK has 2 separate runways and terminals used for GA and small craft that are on the polar opposite end of the main terminal and runway.

Mayybe i can understand KSAN as its only 1 runway but when theres a a whole dedicated area for it i dont see why they gotta reject them

Thats where i get the “i dont wanna” vibes

Hmu next time KOAK has ATC and we can fly in C208’s there or somethin, they can’t deny two of us

technically, I think they can-

but either way, a group flight in C208s would be cool lol

Ill keep that in mind :joy:

Contrary to my post i dont often fly GA unless its the challenger.

Id just like the option to not feel isolated and alone in my lil 208

FedEx flies 208’s in there but they use the GA terminal not the FedEx

In general, light aircraft, like pattern work, should be accepted by ATC if traffic permits.

It’s often virtually impossible to accept them with busy traffic, even if they accepted in real life.

Hi, IFATC controller here, I personally never control the HUBs of the day and always accept GA and Patternwork until it get’s busy. The reason for this is to reduce workload. It’s common for people flying GA to be wanting patternwork which increases workload dramatically which if the airport is a HUB or has a ton of aircraft inbound and departing can become overwhelming.

The C208 and TBM are not light aircrafts, so I venture in any airport at anytime with them and have had no issue that I can recall.

Both can sustain rather high approach speed before slowing down for landing, so it does not disturb the “big” airplanes so much.

Surely you can stick them in a holding pattern until a slot opens up
