So it depends on the overall frequency of the activity? Coz in the picture the topic replied 24m ago is gray while the 32m ago one is orange

Yep. It depends on how many replies a topic has in relation to the time period. The color will become more ‘orange’ with a higher frequency of replies/likes within a certain amount of time. However, it may be better to ask this question in the discourse support page.
