My favorite is The Aviator, the movie that describes the efforts of Howard Hughes. Also known as the creator of the H-4 Hercules Spruce Goose flying boat and Hells Angels
And still DiCaprio didn’t win an Oscar for it.
That was dumb honestly that he didn’t
For best aviation documentary, I’d say the best I’ve seen was “Wings of the Luftwaffe”.

JustPlanes Productions. You see so many things you normally don’t see in TV like flight planning, flight dispatch, walkaround, cockpit preperation, performance calculations, ATC, briefings, talks about procedures, disucssions about emergencies, technical talk about the aircraft etc.
Normal TV documentaries don’t really go into detail and it’s very very basic talk so the majority understands.
Arte Swiss International Airlines
Do you mean the DVD’s or the YouTube videos?
Watched “747 Revolution” on Smithsonian channel, On-Demand. A documentary on the 747 development.
I also like the History Channel’s “10 Most Extreme Airports”. Have it on DVD.
For you ATC folks, how about “Pushing Tin”? Skip the sappy parts but the ATC part is kinda cool. Not very realistic though, I’m told. Too dramatized. Interesting, but not “best”.
The jet stewardesses was a terrific smithsonian documentary.
I saw that on-demand too. Might be my aviation-themed viewing tonight!
