What Would You Call A Smooth Landing

What landing rate would you consider a smooth landing rate? I always get around -200-300FPM on my landings. Below I have listed a few aircrafts that I want you to tell me what is a good landing rate.

  • 737-900/800/700
  • 757-200
  • A320/319/321
  • CRJ 200/700/900
  • Any more planes you guys can name.

A good landing rate is the same for all planes but Ill list the hardest planes to butter to the easiest for ya.

Easy A320 family
757-200
737 family
Hard CRJ family

I would agree the CRJ is tough to butter but one I forgot to put on the list is the 717-200. That thing is like impossible to land.

ya you have to do an all trim landing where you just use trim to control the pitch. Ive pulled it off a few times in solo and buttered.

Did u try land on X-Cub?💀

once you get it its really easy

My take on this is :

Under 300 - good
Under 200 - smooth
Under 100 - butter/grease/whatever else

Now :
Above 400 (if no particular reason) - a bit hard
Above 600 - get the aircraft checked!

Have a nice day/night

Typically, anything bellow a -50 V/S or so landing is smooth. -51 to -100 is my average and it’s decent. -150 and above is a bad one in my books lol.

I find it easier to land the A319 and 789 than any other aircraft.

For me the easiest to land are the 737-700 and all the 777s

Really depends on the aircraft for me. Something like the Q400 I find -150 from pretty smooth for that thing… But something like the 737 or A320 family anything under -100 is pretty dang solid, some aircraft in IF like the 777s look like you landed super smooth but then I check the FPM and it was like -400 💀…

By your books, all pilots in RL would have been fired! 😉

IMO I would swap the 757/A320. 757 after the rework is by and far the easiest jet to butter.

I’d say under -100fpm is smooth, -200fpm is normal and -300fpm is firm. Though anything below -300fpm is super smooth on planes like 717 and E jets.

On the A330, -50 is easy, but for the planes you listed, -100 / -200 for the first 3, the CRJ’s are usually -250/-300. I’d aim for anything above -400, like @Tep_NEMO said.
