What view do you use when landing? Hud, cockpit,

I always use the cockpit view as it adds to the realism as it trains you to get the right perspective when landing and makes it harder to butter.

Depends on the aircraft, in aircraft with realistic cockpits (with working instruments) that I know well I use cockpit view, for aircraft I fly once every month or so or aircraft such as the 747
(unfortunately :( )
I use the HUD since it’s already unrealistic bc you have to look down at the menus at the bottom so you could aswell just have a total butter landing (I still choke a lot of the times though XD)

Yes, good point. I’d still use the cockpit view with the hud in front.

With the 747 as an example you really can’t see much since the camera is (in my humble opinion) way too low in the seat. It’s like you’re a kid in there.

Could also be a skill issue though haha

I always use cockpit mode. In planes with a non - live cockpit during low visibility approaches, I overlay the HUD onto it. In planes with a live cockpit, I’ll just use the cockpit instruments.

Do you use a small or larger screen device, and do you zoom in at all or just use the default zoom?

Do you find you have to do more repetitions of landing practice on a particular aircraft to get it right compared to HUD view?

(When I was testing the nose-wheel-held–up issue for the A380 topic, I found myself doing dozens of short final trials in search of the perfect feel in cockpit view.)

I use an iPad, so larger in terms of what is capable of running IF on. I typically use default zoom, sometimes a little zoomed in if I really need to see the instruments quite closely. I have the speed and altitude AGL on my UI bar, which helps.

I use the cockpit with the HUD on, but I realised on my latest flights I’ve been zooming in to see the PAPI lights, combine that with the ILS on the HUD and you get nice landings.

I used to use HUD earlier to land because I find it easy to do so. However, I have recently started to control my aircraft without HUD, as it give more realistic feel. Although I am not able to butter the landing and sometimes not able to land on centerline, but I think I will get it by practise.

i fly on a phone and it has not the biggest screen, so i used to land from hud view as in cockpit i just couldnt see anything

recently i started landing from cockpit (i began zooming to instruments) view as i understood this is more realistic, and even though my landings got around 150 fpm worse, i guess i need more practice

*if the aircraft has hud irl (A350, 787, A380) i land from cockpit view with had turned on

As we can see you are using a iPad or a Pad device which have a big screen, as I’m also a iPad player, I will suggest using cockpit view+HUD for help you to aim the runway which I was doing like that, it you want more reality flight using only cockpit, when you hear 20 for your AGL retard and flare, that will make you a butter😊

I always use hud, that’s how I grease my landings with many different aircraft’s.

Am i weird for only only using the Landing gear view to land?

I use cockpit view, unsless the cockpit doesn’t have live instruments. Same as @MatsVerhoelst

on my first flight at casual server I used landing gear view but I recommend you to stop doing that and use cockpit+hud or just hud view.

Cockpit 100% of the time
It adds to the realism and feels much better when you make a successful landing 😂

I always fly on the outside, which I thought everyone did until quite recently! 😊😊😊

Wing engine view

I’m joking I use Hud I find it easier since with the flight path vector and things

When I play IF,I always use cockpit view with hud because when I use outside view,it is very loud when engine thrust at max.
