What to say to and Approach/Departure

I’m new in the expert server, and i’m a little bit afraid of ATC judgment and i have some question…

  1. When i’m able to contact Approach, i understanded that i don’t need to Check-In, but once i ask to the Approach “Requesting approach rwy xxx at Heathrow” (Just casual airport) when he answer to me, i have to request altitude change for descending or just following hes vectors and decending manually without asking?

  2. When Approach gives to me clearance for switch to Tower, i need to said to tower “Inbound on the GPS/ILS rwy xxx” and then he should give me clearance right?

  3. Once took off, and contacting Departure, i need to Check in? And then i can freely ask for Vectors to destination or i request flight following? Or i need to ask only for radar vectors to my destination 'till i can change frequency to none and returning on my FP? Because i read a topic where i think that i need to follow vectors of the Departure and then edit the flight plan with my current heading till i can switch to none

  4. In departure frequency i need to ask for altitude change?

If i’ll have any other questions ill write it on the “comments”

Firstly, only contact approach when at or below 18000ft. Secondly, you don’t need to request altitude change unless your about to crash into a mountain or something. Other than that, approach will get you into the airport just by vectoring you.

Yep! They’ll manage your altitude. Just follow their lead and they will get ya down.

Correct

Just check in when on departure. Means you’ll be following your flight plan. You don’t need to do anything else unless they give you a vector or a new instruction.

Nope! Climb at your discretion unless they tell you otherwise.

Hope this helped.

1, approach will give you vectors and altitude, just follow them and you are fine!

2, yes!

3, just check in. Departure might give you vectors to prevent conflicts, otherwise, folow your flight plan until they authorize you to change frequency.

Enjoy the “expert” world!

Oups, I have been typing this uselessly it seems… 😉

But don’t climb at an unrealistic rate ;)

They can climb however they want to realistically or not. They are the pilot in command and are responsible for how the aircraft will fly. 😊

Ok, all right, by the way, if there’s no one in Departure, i can contact approach and ask him the same things that i ask to the departure?
Like i check in and i ask for flight following or i don’t need to contact approach and i can follow the FP?

Like i check in and i ask for flight following or i don’t need to contact approach and i can follow the FP?
And another question, if i check in in departure, i check in, and then i need to request flight following right? Or i only need to check in and ATC will understand?

Don’t go to approach if departure isn’t open unless the tower controller tells you otherwise. If they tell you frequency changed approved you don’t have to talk to anyone until your approaching your destination.

As Asher said, don’t contact Approach on departure, unless Tower hands you over to Approach. (Contact APP on 129.73)
If you have a Flight Plan, you can just check in, since we already know your intentions, since we can see your flight plan.

Another question, now im doing barcelona to nice, and i noticed that there isn’t approach, so i need to contact tower but, i contact tower when established on the localizer of before if there isn’t any Approach?

If approach is inactive, you may contact tower when you are in their airspace.

Tower’s airspace begins at 25 NM from the airport, at or below 10,000 feet Above Aerodrome Level.
