What Should I do in This Situation?

I’m currently taxiing at KSEA, where there’s full ATC active. There’s a user who’s in line for departure right in front of me. They’re just sitting there and have been for about 7 minutes. It’s clear that there’s no reason they shouldn’t be moving, and they weren’t given any instruction by ATC to hold or anything.

There’s no way for me to get around them without taxiing through their wing or the plane, but it’s also not reasonable to just sit here indefinitely because someone else can’t follow basic Expert Server etiquette.

What should I do in this situation?

They will likely get a report for blocking an active taxiway shortly.

They received no such report, at least as of now. I ended up just clipping their wing to go around.

Just saw the flight tracker. I saw @mort has moved so everything is fine lol

They finally got their act together and moved along. It was a solid 8 or so minute block. I’m really surprised they didn’t get reported earlier

Honestly, I’d just sit and wait until the controller possibly instructs you and the aircraft behind you to do a 180 or the aircraft in front of you is disconnected possibly when his device runs out of battery

Perhaps trying to get the ATC’s attention by sending a misc message once (only once)? The ATC might notice the issue if a plane sends “I’m sorry” for no apparent reason

a similar thing happened to me a few weeks ago in othh there was an ethiad that had been off for ten minutes and I had to go somewhere and I was in a big hurry after another 5 minutes I got annoyed and passed it, final result: violation for me after which I appealed but they rejected it.

Perhaps there’s an opening for a feature request here - add a misc “hand raised” type of message to ask politely for ATC attention.

I think a new option in the misc message of saying “excuse me” could be really helpful, and more realistic as well.

Hmm. 7 minutes is a little too long for an aircraft to be completely stopped and blocking a taxiway.

Perhaps at the 5 minute mark of a situation like this I would have requested taxi clearance again with hopes that the controller notices the stationary player and the queue building up behind them.

To be fair, the Ground Controller should have noticed this. Do you recall if ground issued a hold position or give way command?

Edit: Just read that they weren’t given hold command or anything

I’d DM the controller so you can understand what was going on here

I’d do what @Delta174J said. If I can’t maybe (I know this is unrealistic) I will taxi via the grass to the other taxiway. If I have all the time in the world at that moment I’ll just wait patiently. Maybe switch off one engine to conserve fuel as well.
