Does anyone have any knowledge of what this airport is called? I can’t find any information on it—or maybe I haven’t looked hard enough. Anyway, I’m looking to you guys to see if any of you can help me out.

ChatGPT:

"The coordinates 37.82615° N, 75.49564° W point to Accomack County Airport (IATA: MFV, ICAO: KMVF) in Melfa, Virginia, USA.

It’s a small public-use airport serving general aviation."

The coordinates seem to lead to a random beach close to KMFV…

Google just shows it as a road. :man_shrugging:

A road with runway-like markings…how interesting.

No mapping service I’ve tried (incl. Skyvector and Navigraph) has it marked as an airport…

I think it’s a retired airport, like how (I don’t know the name) WAS an airport but has now been turned into a drag strip? It also seems like there’s some houses, maybe it wasn’t getting used enough so they decided to make it a street?

this just gets more and more random :joy:

Ah!!

ChatGPT:

"Near 37.82615° N, 75.49564° W, there used to be Campbell Field Airport (FAA code 9VG). It was a small, privately owned, public-use airfield located near Nassawadox, Virginia.

Campbell Field was active for general aviation but closed permanently in 2017. After it closed, parts of it were converted to farmland and other uses. You can still kind of see the old runway outlines on satellite images."

Interesting, but I don’t think thats right either, cause I saw this S-76 flight from October 2024:

It’s ChatGPT, so you never know.

There IS another unnamed airport (according to Apple Maps) that’s not to far away, make sure it’s not getting mixed up

ChatGPT is referring to this airport:

Don’t know.
It also states the runway can still be seen.
This one is grass, so probably not what ChatGPT is referring to.

It would have to start with “Wallops Island”, that’s all I know lol
