What’s the most wholesome thing you’ve been apart of or have witnessed when flying?

I always see stories of pilots families secretly being on board to surprise him or the other way around. As well as little kids being super excited to look at the cockpit or flying for the first time.

For the amount of flights I’ve been on I haven’t seen many wholesome moments expect for 2.

  1. July 13th, 2021. I had a layover in Minneapolis (@Mort summons) heading to Dulles. At the time my mental health wasn’t in the best state and it caused me to have really bad anxiety attacks for no reason. I boarded the plane with my Mom and Sister (We flew on a Crj900 Delta) and I was on the left side of the aircraft and they were on the right side. I had sat down next to a stranger and just hung out. We were in the very back of the plane. As boarding begins to be done I start sweating intensely and hyperventilating. This is quite embarrassing but I did cry for some reason. I couldnt do anything in the moment because all of my medications were in the luggage below the plane. As we’re getting ready to disconnect the gate the flight attendant walks to the back of the plane and starts talking to me and trying to calm me down. I was about 14 or 15 at the time. I had no reason to be scared or upset and I never really figured why it hit me all of a sudden. The flight attendant went to the front of the plane and then came back down to me and asked if I wanted to sit in the very front. To which I did and magically I started to calm down and relax. I got to enjoy the 2 hour flight with extra legroom, a window seat and got to talk to the F/A. I still remember his name too! Yoshi. Thank you to him for helping me calm down and comfort me.

  2. In August of 2022 I was heading out of Los Angeles to head down to Disney world in Florida for a family vacation. My Mom, Dad, Sister & Grandma were sitting a few rows behind me as there wasn’t any near me. I got my window seat and began looking around outside. A few minutes later a Dad and his Son came and sat down next to me. The dad was on the aisle and the kid was in the middle. As soon as that kid started sat down he started talking to me. I’d say he was about 10 or 11. He was just asking so many questions but it honestly felt really nice. The dad was really nice and calm too. He mentioned that his son really enjoys aviation. He apologized in advance if his son was talking too much or asking too many questions. But no… that was me indeed. For the next 4 hours n 30 minutes this kid and I were nonstop talking about aviation and I was showing him Infinite Flight, videos I’ve recorded, photos, etc. I remember one point during the flight the dad had tried asking me a question and his son was like “Dad shhh I’m talking to him right now, not you.” It was a good laugh I will say that. When we finally arrived in Orlando we departed ways but before I could go off with my family the dad walked over to me and thanked me for talking to his son. He mentioned that his son has Autism and it’s hard for him to make friends. He as well mentioned that his wife had passed away after getting in an accident with a drunk driver. It was really hard on the dad and the kid. His son was alway loved Disney so for Christmas the wife and husband worked really hard and got a 1 week trip to Disney World and surprised the son on Christmas morning. But unfortunately the mom passed away in February after being hit by that drunk driver. It started to make me sad but before we departed ways his son ran up to me and gave me a hug and said “Thanks for sharing the cool videos and photos. I loved it!”. I shook the dads hand and him and his son continued on their journey to Disney World. I told my family about the interaction and they said they were really proud of me and said I did a really good thing. And that’s how I had the best Disney World trip of all time.
It was a pleasure meeting you Gabe and showing you all my photos and videos! And thank you to Garett for being a cool and supportive dad.

Man I’m gonna start crying soon.

I’ve had multiple experiences where Flight Attendants have taken me under their wing and I’ve helped with the service, or made announcements, etc. In my experience, when I’m introduced to the pilots, they are less welcoming but still really kind.

In my life I have been on 36 flights (I think). Each and every one of them, I have had the privilege to sit in the window seat. So much so that I don’t really wanna even fly as a passenger if I can’t see the action outside. This streak was almost broken 6-7 years ago… my parents had booked last min tickets (the cheapest) on JetBlue for our yearly summer vacation down to SRQ from jfk. My dad had a seat in the back, and me, my mom, and my brother had seats in the front few rows on the left side. My brother got a window seat, my mom got the the middle…. And I had a middle seat in the row behind this. Now, I hadn’t known my seating until I was already in the plane… and boy, little me was not happy. It was the last few seats remotely close together left. So uh… I got pretty upset, so much so I dragged attention. The lady who had the window seat was nice enough to let me have it, as she could tell how important it was to me. Present day, I now comprehend just how much of a kind act that was of her. I wrote her a thank-you card on the plane lol. Needless to say, I didn’t look at the tv once in the 2 and a half hour flight. The tv was the window for me. If I could see her again, I’d thank her. Little me was very happy.

Sadly, this is not unheard of in Florida. We have terrible drivers :(
Cool that you were here though!

It was more than a year ago when this happened but I was on a school trip flying to Italy and in the terminal we were waiting for our gate number to come up on the board etc and we were just relaxing and all and this group of men going on a trip dressed as princesses (don’t ask me why) passed by and a few of my fellow classmates took pictures with them. They seemed like they had a few but they seemed nice and cheerful. This is just the from the top of my head and though it wasn’t very interesting i thought it’ll fit this topic. Also when I was plane spotting during 2018 I wanted to get a A380 departure and this nice man helped me get my picture and video straight and all. I guess it didn’t happen during a flight but it is aviation related so why not? Not much has happened on my flights which I guess is good in a way.

I think one of them is definitely the moment last year on a flight from MSP-KEF. There was a girl who was probably about 5 years old sitting diagonally from you next to her parents. She was at the window and absolutely astounded by flying. She was glued to the window as we took off, and when we rotated, she shouted “oh my god we’re in the air!!” So amazing to see how captivated she was by the whole experience. Truly puts into perspective how incredible flying actually is. For most people, it’s become a rather mundane thing.
