Context: Work experience is a program promoted by the Australian government to give students in Year 10/11 a taste of the work life.
It was an incredible week me as an avgeek ever since a child. I got to experience each area of working in the airport, including going aboard some aircraft and meeting the pilots! (subject to individual airline approval)
I was exposed to various careers in the airport including airport planning, airfield safety, and aircraft engineering. I even got the opportunity to join some safety officers on an active runway to check for FOD! But the highlight was definitely being able to go on top of the control tower. I highly recommend any avgeeks to apply for this experience opportunity!
How can YOU apply?
Simply visit the Melbourne airport website. It is open for Australian students over Year 10.
So you’re telling me if I was in Melbourne I could’ve done this? I wish I was in Australia right now. You’re so lucky you got to do this. When I am a bit older I’m planning on working at an airport for a bit of money while I’m at university or just unemployed at the age of 19 (it depends if the place I’m at has an airport or not)
