What message to give to fighter aircrafts

Hello everyone.

I was controlling on the expert server just now when an F18 was doing a super fast flyby. Before that, he was escorting an aircraft when the aircraft was coming in for an inbound. (i’m sure its fine unless the aircraft that he is escorting isnt.) Later on, he did an uncleared landing.

The question i am asking is: what message/command should i give to an aircraft that is doing “stunts” over an airport?

Hello, Avean! Welcome to the IFATC team! Here is what I would do if a pilot was performing the stunts you listed above in my airspace.

  1. If the flighter was doing a super fast flyby at a speed exceeding 350 kts, I would report it as “excessive speed in the airport environment” without giving a warning. To add on, if the pilot was arriving but flying erratically in the tower airspace, such as flying into buildings or flying through others, I would report it as “incorrect arrival procedures - inappropriate altitude, speed, position” without warning.
  2. In the case of a flighter escorting an aircraft, I would first give a warning by saying “traffic alert; check surroundings immediately.” If the issue is not resolved, I would then command them to “please follow instructions.” If they still do not comply, I would give a final warning of “please follow instructions or you will be reported,” followed by a command to “make a 360° turn” or “go around.” If they still do not follow instructions, I would report them for “failure to maintain appropriate aircraft separation.” It is important to note that they must have a “flight of xx” in their call sign in order to fly together, so if they do not, it is a violation and the above actions should be taken.
  3. If a pilot is flying through other aircraft, I would immediately report it as “flying through other aircraft” without giving a warning.
  4. As for your last point, if a pilot simply lands without permission, I would immediately report it as “take-off/land without permission.” However, before doing so, I would give them warnings such as asking for their intentions, giving a “please follow instructions” command, and if there is no response, giving a “please follow instructions or you will be reported” warning before reporting them upon landing.

I hope this helps clarify some of your questions.

So excessive speed, flying through buildings or flying through other aircrafts is a straight away report?

I can’t speak for all controllers, but I report these immediately without warning.

That sums everything up, I think!

In the future, you can ask these questions internally @Avean! :)
