What is the longest you have had to taxi at an airport?

Hi everyone!

I have never made a topic before so I hope I’m doing it right 🤞

So I was wonder what everyone’s longest taxi times have been at airports around the world (in real life).

Mine was at Istanbul’s new airport (LTFM) on a flight from London Heathrow it was a Turkish airlines 777-300ER and it was on rwy 34L which is the further runway from the terminal building. The taxi time was around 1.5 hours !!

1.5 hours!? Did you have delays or something?

Well if you include the delay since we were on the ground it took 2 hours. I was able to finish a full movie by the time we took off. But if your actually talking about taxiing at the airport it was the flight one week prior where we came in early and had to taxi around for a gate to open up which took about 35 mins so not that bad. This was at ORD and I’m sure you all know how big that airport is.

Same flight
LGA- 3 hours due to an engine issue delay
Arriving in MCO took us another 2 hours due to a perfectly timed rain shower that flooded the taxiways

Last year at JFK, I had to wait in a 2 hour long line at 22R, because it was the evening rush hour, and everything was slowed down because 13L/31R was under mass construction.

It’s been finished for about 6 months and runway 13L/31R has still not been expanded to 200ft wide in IF

I don’t recall the length, but I taxiied forever at LAX once.

I don’t remember how long, but I remember being in Seattle and the flight crew coming on to the PA saying that we were 11th in line for takeoff…

almost every time you need to go to 36L / from 18R (the Polderbaan) @ schiphol ! 😂 took me 45 minutes due to heavy traffic and the long taxiway -out. 😅

I haven’t been to many massive airports in my life but for me it was Amsterdam from Runway 18R (the one that’s the furthest out) or Dubai.
I know many American airports are also massive but I’ve never been to USA so 😂

I had a super long taxi at ORD because it was super icy and we were skidding all over the place. My mom was freaking out but I was honestly enjoying it.

I’ve had a couple. The first was at ORD where we waited thunderstorms to go through and we watched all of the movie Titanic in the airplane before getting airborne…this was back in the day where the whole plane got one movie. The other was at JFK where there was a refueling truck out there that was helping keep airplanes from having to go back to the gate…I would say both were well in excess of 3 hours.

Yeahh so it’s a long taxi to the gate anyway and over the tannoy apparently our gate wasn’t ready and there was another plane still there

Anytime at KDFW, my planes always have to land on the opposite side of the airport from our gate. 🙃

In Ethiopia I was coming back from HAAB to EGLL (god forbid I go to HAAB again) it took me about 20 mins to get to the runway due to the unique way that HAAB is run which ofc is hell.

I’ve been lucky. Only about ten minutes tops.

ATL. Landing on the 27s, and taxiing all the way down to the F-gates (Int. Terminal). I almost got tired of being Delta 737s

Probably about 1 hour and 10-ish minutes on a United 772. I was flying from San Francisco to Chicago but there was a drunk passenger onboard, so the flight turned around while taxiing and went back to the gate. Security boarded the plane, handcuffed the man, and escorted him off. We pushed back again shortly after, and it was quite a long taxi as our delay meant we collided with the Asia-bound flights’ bank time.

Mine was 5-6 hours waiting at JFK because a DL 757 was delayed from San Diego.
