What is more irritating as a controller? Poll

  • Asking for “insert callsign ready for takeoff remaining in the pattern” then proceding to climb, ask for departure to the north and then for asking for a frequency change.
  • Asking for frequency change at the hold short line.

Ugh. Why can’t I vote for both? Both of these are terrible!

I think what was more annoying was saw this like a minutes ago. I was doing ATC at NZAA, someone rounded the corner, lined up at the runway, took off, and then requested takeoff.

That’s just somone who is learning. I’ve seen a good number of people on expert make these two mistakes.

He was grade 3, and I’ve known him being a really good pilot. he was probably playing a game but stiill

Just reading the poll makes me irritated.

When people request frequency change the second their tires get airborne from the runway… and then don’t actually change frequency

I’ve been so frustrated with both situations. Whenever someone asks for frequency change at the hold short line I often use the “You have already been instructed to change frequency” command. Never seems to work unfortunately!

Sometimes I think they simply just forget to tune out of the frequency.

Where is that command. Miscellaneous, I assume.

Absolutely, all those fantastic commands are hidden away in Miscellaneous ;)

The worst is when they are taxiing at a busy airport, and they request a change to Tower…

Do they request you! You’re lucky, sir. Sometimes I’ve seen people tune themselves to Tower as soon as they are cleared for pushback and told to expect a runway. They just go. Crossing runways as they wish. Or taxi through each taxi lane of the airport just to go to a runway threshold behind their tails. Nothing can stop them.

One thing can stop them @angrybird; a ghost on the Expert server.

Oh man… both of those are quite annoying…

I’ll have to go with the first one.

Neither of these are ghostable offenses…

Both are annoying. I would say “remaining in the pattern” and then just taking off is worse…

Sometimes it’s not necessarily pilots but when TS1 ATC decides to spam roger 20 times or to broadcast Airport is busy messages while there is no other aircraft

Both.
The most for me is when the airport is busy as heck and someone starts doing patternwork eventhough you have clearly said NO PATTERNWORK AT THIS MOMENT.
