Good Morning or Afternoon.
I have seen a few topics of this come and go. I am just wondering how these wonderful Infinite Flight community members got into the amazing world of flight… Aviation. Here’s mine: Sitting in class in 6th grade, next to a window and saw the good old Qantas 717’s banking left as soon as they took off over my school. Then wondering how amazing a big aircraft can lift off the ground and fly. Eventually started looking at pictures of planes on the internet, installed a few flight simulation games, and got obsessed with planes! Now Im in 12th grade, going to study aviation next year and get my Commercial pilots licence.
I would love to hear yours, so please put it below :). Cheers.

When I was a child, I was intrigued by the takeoff and landing stages of flight. My favorite plane was the 737 and I always loved sitting window seat near the wings. It was, and still is, a cool experience.

Honestly it is a very good question. I think when I was a very little kid I became infatuated with them because it was the only way to see the rest of my family since myself and parents moved away from home town when I was little. So this kinda sparked an interest in them cause it had quite a nice emotional connection. But then as I grew up this connection stayed and became way more in depth into how it works and the marvel of man. But I still get that little kid feeling sometimes when I get on and just think “I am going home”.

Riding planes since I was 2. My first memories are on the Skywest Embraier 120 brasilia from St. George to Salt lake City. My mom was a flight attendant/ Stewardess for Skywest in the early 200s and flew on the CRJ100/200 and EMB 120. Come 23 years later here she is as a supervisor for United airlines in Jackson Wy where I live and me as a crazy 16 year old plane nerd who cares more about the 5 flights I do every day on IF than my own education

Well, My dad was a flight attendant for ASA, Delta, And JetBlue. He was with ASA for 3 years Delta for 2, and JetBlue for 15.5 u til Covid hit. My grandpa was a gunman in the military (Army) in the Black Hawks, and my mothers father worked for British airways Maintenance in JFK, Now I have been surrounded by Aviation since the day I was born the first thing my dad did was put his JetBlue hat in my head and yeah… I just automatically fell in love we had a small apartment by 31R on Long Island NY and that’s my story here I am to this day still flying around the U.S!

I’ll never forget that day in 2008:
I was taking an evening walk by Toronto’s Lester B. Pearson airport when I saw about 5 planes in the sky lined up for landing. I thought to myself how is that even possible? From then on, I’ve been passionate about aerospace and aviation, so I’ve decided to dedicate my life to aeronautical engineering!

Very interesting question. I actually do not know where it all started but I remember going to Honolulu airport while on vacation just too look at planes and I remember seeing a massive UPS 747-400 storm by where my dad and I were standing and the pilot look over at us and he waved! I thought it was really cool and when we got back to our hotel along the approach of 8L I started to endlessly start filming all the planes! A few weeks later I got a lot more inspiration from talking to my grandpa’s friend who was the head pilot for FedEx. He gave me the general knowledge and that is what truly got me started into aviation and soon after, IF came into my life and actually IF is the reason how I know half the aviation knowledge that I do now.

N584AS and N518AS did
They were the aircraft that got me to and from Kahului on my first trip that involved flying, and the first time I flew.

I have loved aviation for as long as I can remember, and one of my earliest memories of aircraft was sitting in the window seat of a Qantas 767, listening to the engines spool up, and the feeling of being pushed back into my seat as the plane accelerated. After the flight, I was invited by a cabin crew member into the cockpit, and from that moment on, I was hooked. Even to this day, the sensation of the aircraft rotating, and the wheels leaving the ground is one of my favourite feelings in the world.

Hated my first flight. Became obsessed after takeoff on my second flight. I had never felt something like that, and found it amazing.
