What happens when you set autopilot on a continue to waypoint path?

Hey guys !! Quik question

If I set my autopilot to continue onto another waypoint what would happen? Irl Ive noticed sometimes the route will skip waypoints and I can’t sit here waiting for the next waypoint lol

Thanks guys and please lmk if this needs more explanation

It your talking about RNAV, it will continue on with your flight plan

I think you might be talking about the fact that it might overshoot a waypoint and make a 360 to try and reach it. To prevent that from happening, remove any waypoints you might think are tight or just activate another leg in your flight plan if the plane does seem like it’ll 360 around

I mean if I just do a “continue to another waypoint” the only way I can do that is by sitting here waiting to arrive at the waypoint.. I recreate irl flight paths so I tend to turn wherever the plane turns you get it?

I think what you are trying to say is you want to use direct to waypoint right? Which means you can fly direct to the waypoint you want to fly by selecting the waypoint on your flight plan and click act leg.

Yes exactly that, is that possible yet? I’ve been back and flying for a year after taking a 4 year hiatus so I’m still till this day learning the new stuff added since 2021.

It always had. Also, the AP doesnt just skip waypoints.

By what you said here, you want to be extra realistic. If you haven’t already, link a Navigrph account and find the flight plan in Flightaware.

You can do it two ways the one way like I mentioned and the second way is click on the waypoint you want to head to and you will see a plus icon and right hand arrow key and choose the latter and click activate leg to which does the same thing.

Now for flight planning always use SimBrief since it’s the benchmark for Flight sims when flying IFR. SimBrief generates realistic and highly accurate flight plans by leveraging real-world routing databases and integrating validated data directly from aviation authorities and services like Eurocontrol and FlightAware. The recent upgrades to SimBrief, especially in Europe, historically applied to the usa from routes that mirror those used by real-world airline dispatchers.

A realistic flight simmer like me uses SimBrief and customizes each flight plan to reflect real-world weather (winds aloft and weather radar) and operational considerations (Cost index and fuel) rather than using the output “as is.” SimBrief integrates live (and historical) weather for departure, enroute, arrival, and alternate airports, but I actively review and edit the plan based on these details.
